Debut author/illustrator Vashti Harrison pairs captivating text with stunning illustrations as she tells the stories of both iconic and less well-known figures in her stunning series, ‘Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History’, ‘Little Leaders: Visionary Women Around the World’ and ‘Little Leaders: Exceptional Men in Black History’.
In these biographies, readers will find heroes, role models and everyday people who did extraordinary things. Did you know that Wi-Fi was invented by a glamorous Hollywood star? Or that the first computer programmer was a woman born in 1816? Or that Vogue’s editor-at-large read his first Vogue magazine in his local library?
You’ll find seven, hour-long lessons that can take place during classes or as extra curricular activities, with Literacy, PSHE and Geography objectives. Debate what it means to be bold and visionary and celebrate the accomplishments of these extraordinary people.

The Story-Makers Show was known as Puffin Virtually Live up until March 2019. The content and ambition of the show remains the same: to give every pupil the opportunity to engage with authors and illustrators in their own classroom using the power of the internet.
We’ve re-named Puffin Virtually Live so that it’s easier for new teachers to discover it as part of Puffin Schools and to acknowledge that the show now premieres on show day, rather than being streamed live.
