Resource Pack: George's Marvellous Medicine

What’s the story?

Inspire your class with Roald Dahl’s hilarious story starring George, a mischievous and accidental scientist! George Kranky’s grandma is a miserable grouch. George really hates that horrid old witchy woman. One Saturday morning, he is in charge of giving Grandma her medicine. So-ho! Ah-ha! Ho-hum! George knows exactly what to do. A magic medicine* it will be. One that will either cure her completely . . . or blow off the top of her head.

*WARNING: Do not try to make George’s Marvellous Medicine yourselves at school. It could be dangerous.

This pack includes:

You’ll get six inspiring lessons with both Literacy and PSHE objectives, plus templates, worksheets, extracts and ideas for simple science experiments. This pack can be used as you read the book together as a class or for one-off lessons. Challenge pupils to come up with a revolting rhyme – once they’ve identified each use of onomatopoeia of course, and lead a class discussion on handling mixed feelings.
