About the author:
Ben Lyttleton’s books have sold more than half a million copies in the UK. And they all have one thing in common: using football as a tool for education. Ben’s first book, TWELVE YARDS, explored the art and psychology of the penalty kick and redefined how the football world approaches penalty kicks. His second book, EDGE, explored how coaches identify and develop the intangible talent of their players, like resilience and creativity. Ben is, along with Alex Bellos, the co-author of the Sunday Times bestselling children’s series FOOTBALL SCHOOL. The 13-book series has sold over 400k UK copies across all titles, has been translated into ten languages and has been nominated for several awards.
Ben works with the Premier League as an ambassador for their Reading Stars campaign, and provides literacy outreach for clubs including Liverpool, Tottenham, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Ipswich. He hosts an annual World Book Day online quiz which in 2024 was watched by over half a million primary school students. Ben visits around 30 primary schools a year, giving free talks and workshops that inspire children to read.

The Story-Makers Show was known as Puffin Virtually Live up until March 2019. The content and ambition of the show remains the same: to give every pupil the opportunity to engage with authors and illustrators in their own classroom using the power of the internet.
We’ve re-named Puffin Virtually Live so that it’s easier for new teachers to discover it as part of Puffin Schools and to acknowledge that the show now premieres on show day, rather than being streamed live.
Your account for Puffin Virtually Live has been deactivated as it is no longer a feature of the Puffin Schools website.
If you were registered for the newsletter, you will now receive the Puffin Schools newsletter, which is filled with all the latest information about accompanying resources and upcoming shows.

You can watch The Story-Makers Show on the Puffin Schools site. However, please be aware that it uses a YouTube player and that you should check your school’s permissions to ensure that YouTube isn’t blocked.
