The Jolly Postman has a very busy job, delivering cards and letters to various fairy-tale characters. He has a letter of apology for the three bears from Goldilocks, a postcard from Jack for the Giant, a solicitor’s letter on behalf of Little Red Riding-Hood to the wolf who ate Grandma, and much more!
Activities in this resource include character sheets and postcard templates so that children can develop their reading comprehension skills and hone their writing skills.
This resource promotes both talking and writing in the classroom. It is an opportunity for children to ask questions of their favourite fairy-tale characters from The Jolly Postman and to create their own postcards, writing independently or in small, guided groups.

The Story-Makers Show was known as Puffin Virtually Live up until March 2019. The content and ambition of the show remains the same: to give every pupil the opportunity to engage with authors and illustrators in their own classroom using the power of the internet.
We’ve re-named Puffin Virtually Live so that it’s easier for new teachers to discover it as part of Puffin Schools and to acknowledge that the show now premieres on show day, rather than being streamed live.
